Tucson’s beloved restaurant brand addresses recent reports and assures customers: Eegee’s isn’t going anywhere.
TUCSON, Ariz. — Recent local news reports have described the closure of a couple of Eegee’s restaurants, prompting questions and concerns from loyal customers about the future of the Tucson-born brand.
The message from Eegee’s is simple: Don’t worry, Tucson. You can still get your favorite sub/grinder, eegee and ranch fries.
While a couple of Eegee’s locations are temporarily closing as their leases come to an end, these closures are not an indication that Eegee’s is leaving those communities or scaling back its presence in Tucson. The company is actively identifying new locations and plans to reopen in the affected areas.
In fact, plans are already underway for the relocation of the Eegee’s at Speedway Boulevard and Tucson Boulevard. The restaurant will move just a few blocks east on Speedway into the location currently occupied by Blake’s Lotaburger.
“We want our customers to know that this is not goodbye,” said Ken Kenwood, CEO. “Some of our leases are ending, and that gives us an opportunity to find locations that work even better for our guests and our business. We are actively looking for new locations and making plans to reopen. Eegee’s has been part of Tucson for 55 years, and we’re not going anywhere.”
“We know how much Eegee’s means to Tucson,” said Kenwood. “Generations of Tucsonans have grown up with Eegee’s, and we’re proud to be part of this community. We’re focused on the future and on making sure Tucson can continue to enjoy Eegee’s for generations to come.”
Founded in Tucson in 1971, Eegee’s is celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2026. What began as a simple frozen fruit drink created by two Tucson teenagers has grown into one of Southern Arizona’s most recognizable restaurant brands.
Today, Eegee’s continues to serve its signature frozen fruit drinks, subs/grinders, fries, salads and famous ranch dressing at locations throughout Tucson and across Arizona. The company’s current location directory remains active and includes locations throughout the Tucson area.
So, Tucson — take a breath — Eegee’s isn’t going anywhere.
